Introduction:Outsourcing as a phenomenon has grown into a business model, owing to the fact that companies are facing more competition since the advent of globalisation. Companies are moving towards improving their core activities and outsourcing the non-core functions to more quality and cost advantageous locations across the globe. Setting an example in the Legal Process Outsourcing industry, DuPont has been able to focus on its primary business by pioneering improvements in non-core activities of its legal department. It has set up the 'DuPont Legal Model' to tackle rising demands on the legal front and also has successfully outsourced a part of legal work to beneficial locations around the globe, deriving substantial benefits. This has led to the emergence of Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) as a businessmodel, with a number of companies and law firms following DuPont's example by outsourcing their legal work. India has emerged as the favoured destination for most of the legal outsourcing work, but the country could face a number of challenges inmaking a success story out of its LPO industry in the future.
